López Obrador confirmed his absence at the seventh Summit of the Community of Latin American and Caribbean States (Celac) in Buenos Aires for reasons of his national agenda and questioned that in the host country “hypocritical conservatives blame everything on Alberto Fernández”.
He said that “the conservatives who caused Argentina’s indebtedness in complicity with the International Monetary Fund should be ashamed and apologetic.”
He also reported that Macri lost the elections despite the funds from new credits that left the country more indebted.
“Instead of helping a renegotiation of the debt to move Argentina forward, then they turn around and leave the government alone” of Fernández, he continued, quoted by the Sputnik agency.
Over time, he said, the economic situation has worsened due to the enormous debt, inflation, devaluation of the Argentine currency and the opposition that blames the Fernández government.
“The same people who put Argentina in debt, who impoverished the people of Argentina, are the champions of freedom and democracy, and those are the ones who now want to return to their privileges,” he said.
He compared this situation with Mexico, but assured that in his country, “this trick of the right with conservatism will not happen.”
He added that one of the reasons is that the Mexican population is aware and informed.
Finally, he said that, in the conventional media, “even those who defend conservatism tooth and nail in Mexico do not compare with the extreme right-wing journalism of Argentina and other countries.”
He also highlighted the work of independent media, few conventional media, and social networks that help what he describes as an awareness process.
“It is a revolution of consciences where people are very awake and do not allow themselves to be manipulated,” he concluded.
