In the auditorium of the Feldkirch school and cultural center, Martin Leibetseder presented the new topotheque of the market town of Feldkirchen. The topotheque is an extensive digital archive that collects, archives and displays image material and documents from Feldkirchen. How to get to these contributions and how the topotheque is structured was something that those present could try out for themselves immediately after the presentation.

Everyday situations, life and work in earlier times, houses and farmsteads, but of course also important personalities and festivals in the community are prepared in it and made visible to the population with more than 1000 photos and documents. The published contributions are created, managed and maintained by the topotheque team with Herbert Schatzl, Martin Leibetseder, Peter Bruckmüller, Fritz Rechberger, Elisabeth Schiller, Beate Aigner and Robert Gumpenberger.

“I would like to thank the dedicated Topothecar team for the many unpaid hours they invested in the construction. This is an important contribution for our young community citizens, so that they have an idea of how our community has developed,” said Mayor David Allerstorfer (SP) at the presentation evening.

Part of the character of the topotheque is that it can be constantly expanded and supplemented. We are still looking for photos, postcards, writings, certificates, testimonials, newspaper clippings, films, videos and slides. Material that may have sat unnoticed in boxes for many years may seem unimportant to the individual. For others, this may awaken personal memories and the historical memory of the home community will thus become denser.
