The change in the ÖVP Leonding team will be officially completed at the municipal council meeting on February 2nd. It becomes necessary because the previous city councilor Karl Ferdinand Velechovsky is resigning from his office for personal reasons. He is succeeded by Adelheid Ebenberger, she is the first woman to take over a city council office for the ÖVP Leonding. Local politics is a familiar place for Ebenberger, since 2006 she has been a member of the Leonding municipal council for the ÖVP.
“I appreciate Heidi Ebenberger as a hard-working, correct, loyal and experienced councilor and I am glad that we have found such a suitable successor for this office. It is also intended to send a clear signal that women at the top of our party can and should play an active role in shaping our party and taking on management functions,” says VP party chairman Deputy Mayor Thomas Neidl, who thanks Velechovsky for his commitment.
