With Julius Derndorfer, this anniversary is also being celebrated by someone who has had a significant influence on social life in the community for decades. On the one hand, as a teacher and director of the elementary school, Derndorfer taught more than a thousand students in Hofkirchen. He was also a board member in several Hofkirchner associations and chairman of the parish council. Because of this wide-ranging voluntary commitment, Derndorfer was awarded the community ring of honor.
Four years ago, Derndorfer moved to his son’s house in Scharnstein for reasons of age. Mayor Martin Raab, head of the municipal office Rupert Höglinger and his former violin student Herbert Gierlinger visited him there on his 100th birthday to congratulate him.
