The police had to use pepper spray to stop the man. Even in the prison cell, he continued to rage on. The 32-year-old only calmed down after several hours, according to the executive.
What happened? Several emergency calls were received around 1:15 a.m. on Sunday night. The callers reported a man walking around in Braunau near Salzburg with a knife. A patrol who was very close by was quickly on the spot. Officers witnessed a 32-year-old stalking and threatening another man with a 14-inch kitchen knife.
With his gun drawn, one of the police officers asked the attacker to drop the knife. “The 32-year-old was briefly irritated and put the knife in his waistband,” reports the police. But the Innviertler didn’t want to leave his opponent alone. In front of the officers, he ran after the 27-year-old, who also lives in the Braunau district. Only through the use of pepper spray could the rabid man be stopped. After the arrest, he was taken to the Braunau police station, where he raged for hours in the detention cell.
During the interrogation, the Innviertler confessed and gave the reason for the heated argument. When playing poker, the two friends may not have agreed. In combination with plenty of alcohol, the argument escalated. The young man was taken to the Ried prison.
