The Bad Ischl municipal council has approved the 2023 budget with the votes of the SPÖ, the Greens and parts of the FPÖ.
The budget could be balanced, but the municipality has to fall back on 3.1 million euros in reserves. A number of major projects also make new loans necessary. Among other things, an extension to the fire brigade depot, the construction of the school center and the renovation of the Lehárvilla are planned. The city is taking on around eight million euros in new debt, while at the same time repaying 2.5 million euros in existing loans. Any expenses for the renovation of the Lehártheater (see above) have not yet been taken into account in the budget.
The Zukunft Ischl list voted against the budget, including the medium-term one. “Bad Ischl’s level of debt is currently 26 million euros and will increase to up to 46 million in the medium term,” criticized City Councilor Johannes Bauer (List Future Ischl). Harald Kotschy (FPÖ) accuses the SPÖ and the Greens of having a “loose pocket policy”. (ebra)
