According to the police, the boy crossed the street immediately in front of the car in the area of a bus stop. The 52-year-old driver was no longer able to avoid and hit the student who was thrown onto the road in the collision.
The child was taken to the Kepler University Hospital in Linz by ambulance with serious injuries. The accident happened shortly after 7 a.m. on the Donaubundesstraße (B3).
According to the police, there is neither a protective path nor artificial street lighting at the bus stop. The driver of the car may have overlooked the student in the dark.
