Late Wednesday evening in Enns (Linz-Land district), an unknown car racer ran over a dog that was being kept on a leash by its owner and then committed a hit-and-run. The border collie, who was crossing the road with his master at the shelter, was thrown 30 meters and killed, police said. The dog owner sustained injuries to his hand.
According to the 51-year-old dog owner, a black car had approached at high speed and run over the animal. The man suffered a cut on his hand because he was holding the 34-pound border collie on a leash when the accident occurred.
