The e-charging stations in the Traun underground car park went into operation in 2016, and from next Monday (February 6th) they will be history. There are several triggers for this decision by Mayor Karl-Heinz Koll (VP).
The most serious is that the use of the e-charging stations regularly broke out between users, sometimes loudly, and some of the e-charging stations were blocked by individual vehicles for a long time. The decision that the keys could be borrowed from the city office also brought no improvement. Rather, the town hall employees were also the target of verbal attacks.
That is unacceptable, says Koll. “The e-charging stations were intended as a service for citizens who could briefly charge their car while they had an appointment at the office. No one could have imagined that this would take on such excesses suspect.”
“A Cost Trap”
Increased energy costs also play a role. While the costs for the e-charging stations used to be between 3,000 and 6,000 euros per year, last year it was around 20,000 euros. In view of the current electricity price, costs of between 30,000 and 50,000 could be expected for 2023, says Koll. “What was intended as a service turns out to be a cost trap.”
The purchase of energy columns is now being examined for the underground car park, where charging would be possible for a limited period of time.
