The search operation began around 2:30 a.m. when the 16-year-old went to the restaurant’s toilet. However, he never came back from there, which prompted three friends to inform the young night owl’s parents. They then came to help, but the search for their son in the vicinity of the restaurant was initially unsuccessful.
Shortly before 4 a.m., the fire brigade, police and the operator of the now closed restaurant came to the rescue. The latter not only searched the local premises, but also the surrounding unlocked rooms of the building. At around 5:15 a.m., he finally found the 16-year-old sleeping in a ventilation shaft in a storage room. The young man was apparently drunk, but was handed over to his parents unharmed.
