A full hall at the Kirchenwirt in Eberschwang was the clear sign: The first meeting of the Eberschwang Carnival Guild (FGE) – since this year under the direction of President Christopher Hörl – was not only eagerly awaited by the Eber-pregnant people, but also by many other people from the Innviertel. For the performances of the guild, which was founded 56 years ago, guests also come from outside, for example from the “Carnival-less Ried”, as the President stated with a wink and an expression of satisfaction. The guild members were still worried the day before: “If it had snowed like yesterday, we wouldn’t have needed it,” said Martin Bögl.
“Remarkable level”
The break was not noticeable to the actors during their performances. Fun, passion and, in some cases, remarkable acting performances have been the hallmarks of the Eberschwang carnival makers for decades. “It took a long time. Good iss warn,” said the royal couple Princess Astrid II. and Prince Jürgen I. at the beginning. You should be right: it was good and it took a long time…
Bringing around 100 actors onto the stage (and behind it) is an achievement that received a lot of recognition from the hundreds of guests: “It’s unbelievable what the Eberschwanger have done there – and at this level,” said the Mühlviertler SPÖ state councilor Michael Lindner, who was a guest with a delegation of the Social Democrats from the Innviertel. Anyone who comes to Eberschwang as a political representative is aware that everyone gets their carnival chatter! SP Mayor Josef Bleckenwegner already has experience, having been in office for decades. That then the “Old Schmahtandlers” in their “Tales from the Orient” spoke of an “armchair glue” whose motto is: “I’ll give up my office!” – that was clear.
The FPÖ from the Ried district was also represented by a delegation – and was pulled through the cocoa in the person of Herbert Kickl from the “Schmachtandlers”, who “squirts his poison as a dwarf”.
From “Turkisistan” to Eberschwang
Although no ÖVP representatives were sighted on Friday, their faces would certainly have grown long. Because it was no wonder how people taunted them about “Turkisistan” and “Basti” and “Schmid – der Old Chatterhand” and the party’s corruption problem. The former mayor of Rieder, Albert Ortig, also got his fat in the traditional manner. The fact that Rieder’s long-term mayor no longer ran for office was explained as follows: “He probably ran out of energy!” Energie Ried’s problems were disrespectfully spread, and it was also explained why the street lighting in Ried no longer comes on at night: “Albert Ortig turned off the light when he left and didn’t tell the new mayor where the switch is.”
Top girls, top fun
An experienced quartet with Walter Egger and Reinhard Kiehas as well as Peter Duringer and Wolfgang Huber is responsible for the program. Speaking of Wolfgang Huber: His “Doppelbütt” (a legendary program specialty in a duo) with Thomas Egger on “Vereins(ver)wesen und Der Vorgestringer Chor” – was the finest. The individual items on the program – from “Wa(h)ren Liebe” with a parody to love for sale, women from the catalog and cosmetic surgery to the legendary “Family Putz”, the top fun performance by the FuGru (soccer group) to the pop singer – Parody showed the wealth of talent of the carnival guild. That the FGE is also top in terms of dancing: The girls and young women of the ÖTB Eberschwang dance group (directed by Eva Bozic) will prove this again this year in three finely choreographed performances.
The performance of the guest guard, who came from Rufling on Friday and brought a really brisk and perfect performance to the stage, was also great.
Petra Mitterbauer and Peter Hofinger skilfully hosted the evening, which was traditionally supported by the OÖ Nachrichten and the Sparkasse Ried-Haag.
Conclusion: Good iss warn and it took a long time. Maybe even a little too long.
