The Wildenau carnival parade attracted many carnival enthusiasts from the Innviertel and Bavaria to the almost 700-inhabitant village on Saturday. Around 6 p.m., when the parade was already over, the exuberant mood was dampened: an unknown person began to riot in front of the fire station against a carnival group from Rotthalmünster in Germany.
Beating women with fists
He first insulted a 21-year-old, tore her hair and hit her with his fist. The young woman tried to defend herself and suffered a bleeding injury to her hand. When a 19-year-old wanted to mediate, the perpetrator hit him in the face with his fist. The victim fell to the asphalt and lay unconscious for a few seconds. A 23-year-old who wanted to intervene was also punched in the face by the stranger. The attacker then fled in the direction of the town center. The two injured women from Bavaria were treated on site by the rescue team. The 19-year-old, also from Bavaria, was taken to Ried Hospital with an ambulance with injuries of an unknown degree.
Beer bottle on head
There was also an incident at the subsequent carnival party in the Wildenau gym: a 24-year-old from the Ried district was standing among a crowd at the bar outside the hall. The young man bent down to help a drunk who had fallen next to him get back on his feet. A stranger hit him in the head with a beer bottle. The bottle broke and the 24-year-old fell to the ground in a daze. The perpetrator then disappeared into the crowd. The injured man, who was under the influence of alcohol, suffered minor injuries and was also taken to the hospital in Ried after first aid by the ambulance.
