The 31-year-old driver from the Gmunden district was driving his vehicle on the Eberstalzeller Landesstraße at around 5:45 a.m. In a left turn, he left the road with the car. The silver SUV crashed into a bus shelter, completely destroying it. The BMW was also totally damaged in the accident.
Neighbors freed the injured driver. He was treated by the emergency doctor and rescue at the scene of the accident and then taken to the Wels Clinic. An alcohol test showed a value of 1.38 per mille.
According to initial information, there was another person in the car. Firefighters therefore searched the vehicle and the surrounding area with a thermal imaging camera. Search parties began looking for the allegedly missing person in the area. However, the all-clear could soon be given after the driver confirmed that he had been traveling alone.
