After lengthy investigations, it is now clear: five young migrants who are said to have been involved in the riots on Halloween night in Linz must answer in court.
A 21-year-old Syrian man will appear in court on March 2 on charges of aggravated community violence and attempted aggravated assault. He faces up to five years in prison. A Spaniard (19), a Thai (15), an Iraqi (16) and an Afghan (15) are also charged with the same crimes. All five are currently in custody. But the riots do not only have consequences for the accused: Asylum denial procedures were initiated against 56 suspected participants in the riots (35 Syrians, twelve Afghans, four Iraqis, three Russians and one person each from Somalia and Azerbaijan).
