“Carnival fun in the Bahnhofstrasse” – this was the slogan used to advertise the legendary Ried carnival in Ried in the 1980s and 1990s. The event at the end of the carnival kept half of Ried busy and ended with the equally legendary musicians’ masked ball in the Jahnturnhalle. The hustle and bustle on Shrove Tuesday from noon on Rieder Bahnhofstraße sometimes broke all boundaries at the time.
This year, after a long break, the Rieder Bahnhofstrasse carnival is being brought back to life. On Shrove Tuesday, February 21, from 12 p.m. to 6 p.m., there will be carnival hustle and bustle again, organized by the Rieder Business Association. Several restaurants – eat art, away, Giesserei, Galerie Marias Kochcafé and M² (Martina and Manuel), Krausmann and Emil – take care of the physical well-being, among other things. There is also a program for children, and carnival photos can be taken at the photo point. The music comes from Jacky’s Powerplay.
“Something’s happening in Ried,” said Deputy Mayor Peter Stummer (SPÖ) on Monday via Facebook, reacting to the pointed remark at the Eberschwanger carnival last Saturday, where the district town was told with a wink that the city of Ried “has no carnival ” and one therefore had to switch to Eberschwang.
