The result of the earthquake leads to fatal figures: more than 1,300 people died and thousands more were injured so far as a result of the earthquake.
Diego Álvarez Rivera, Argentine Consul General in Istanbuldetailed the situation in statements with radius 10: “After the earthquake, the problem was that there were more than 40 aftershocks, the last one taking place a little over half an hour ago, almost with the same intensity as the original earthquake. The picture is truly worrying. The latest information provided by the nation’s presidency is that there are 912 dead and 5,385 wounded”.
The official who resides in Turkey confirmed the contacts with the Argentines: “We contacted the Argentines who live in the affected regions and we have been able to verify that they are well. None have been affected, at least for those of whom we have evidence in our records and we were able to contact.

Foreign Ministry sent its condolences to Turks and Syrians
Through a press release, the Foreign Ministry stated: “The Government and the people of the Argentine Republic, dismayed by the serious consequences of the seismic movements verified in Türkiye and Syria, accompany both governments in this difficult moment and express their most sincere condolences to the Turkish and Syrian peoples”.
“In this regard, Argentina jointly accompanies all those affected in these tragic circumstances and wishes for the speedy recovery of the injured,” he added.
Europe sends rescue teams
The European Comission announced that it will coordinate the dispatch of rescue teams from the Member States with the aim of finding survivors after the earthquake.
The Commissioner for Crisis Management, Janez Lenarcic, announced that Brussels has activated the protocol, better known as EU Civil Protection Mechanism: “The Emergency Response Coordination Center is coordinating the deployment of rescue teams from Europe.”
The governments of Netherlands and Romania Rescue teams are already moving to the affected areas, with first aid personnel and firefighters to contribute to the search efforts.
