In view of the increased electricity prices, many municipalities in Upper Austria are currently looking for renewable alternatives for the energy supply. “The request for climate and energy advice has increased massively in municipalities as well as in companies and schools,” says Norbert Rainer, Managing Director of the Upper Austrian Climate Alliance.

In 2022, six new communities joined the network, which is available to its members for advice on climate protection projects. It now has 298 members. The focus of the work of the approximately 50 employees is currently on plans for the use of renewable energies, energy saving measures and the implementation of the requirements of the Green Deal in the communities.

In addition to the municipalities, around 900 companies and 270 educational institutions are also part of the network. “We need allies at all levels to combat the climate crisis. The Upper Austria Climate Alliance has extensive knowledge and many years of experience. It offers its numerous members and partners competent support,” says Environment Provincial Councilor Stefan Kaineder (Greens), whose department strongly supports the Climate Alliance.
