Reading is absolutely “in”: Last year, the city library in the Hinterstadt was visited by 23,065 people who borrowed 85,918 books (including renewals). The library in the Lebzelterhaus not only has a large number of regular customers, but in the past year alone 147 new readers were added. The library scores above all with its extensive range of more than 17,000 media.
What the children are particularly happy about are almost 250 Tonie figures, two Tonie boxes, i.e. players for the Tonie figures that can be borrowed, and almost 300 games. 5712 books are offered under “Fiction”, with a focus of demand being crime fiction and thrillers. There are also 2988 non-fiction books and 5839 children’s books, 895 radio play CDs and 671 DVDs for adults and children and 498 periodicals.
There was an innovation in terms of personnel: the previous head, Birgit Wardrobe, left the library. With Margit Neumüller, an experienced librarian took over the management. Barbara Unterlercher and Sandra Huber were new to the team.
The service in the library is also in great demand: you can conveniently pre-order media and browse through the range from the comfort of your own home using the online catalogue. The notifications are particularly appreciated when an ordered medium is in the house. “Reminder emails” before the loan period expires protect against overdraft fees.
