The Aigen fire brigade was called yesterday at around 6.30 p.m. to the fire in a residual waste container next to an apartment building. However, two comrades were missing when the men moved out. The firefighters met them directly on site, where they were already in the process of containing the flames. And with the obvious: in addition to a fire extinguisher, the two worked with snow to fight the fire and thus prevent the fire from spreading.
“I got a call from a neighbor because the dumpster was on fire,” says Daniel Plöderl. While the woman alerted the fire brigade, the 35-year-old grabbed a fire extinguisher from his garage and began to try to extinguish it – which was also supported by comrade Gerald Seiringer, who also lived in the settlement, who went to work with a snow shovel. The comrades from the fire brigade, who arrived a little later, finally took over the further extinguishing work and assessment with the thermal imaging camera in order to locate any embers.
Police investigations into the cause of the fire are ongoing.
