Now it’s time for the decision at federal level: From February 6th to 20th, the population has the opportunity to vote for their respective favorites by means of online voting at www.neptun-staatspreis.at.

The municipality of Ried is calling for people to vote for the submitted Ried project for the “water-ecological upgrading of watercourses in the city area”: As reported, numerous recultivation measures are to be carried out on large stretches of water in order to be able to create ecologically valuable areas.

Better continuity

The project, which aims to improve the continuity of the streams for creatures such as fish, even includes transponder studies for fish tracking and mussel recovery. According to Ried’s VP Mayor Bernhard Zwielehner, the comprehensive renaturation of the watercourses is a personal concern to him. Thanks to the cooperative collaboration of everyone, this project could be implemented from this year.

Green Environment Councilor Lukas Oberwagner is particularly pleased with the state prize. “It shows the good work being done in this area.” With the project for water body renaturation, the urban area will be upgraded in terms of water ecology and an additional local recreation area will be created, according to FP Vice Mayor Thomas Dim. Ried also stands for sustainable and innovative environmental policy, according to SP Vice Mayor Peter Stummer.
