“Architecture undoubtedly does something to people, architecture has an impact on what people do, think and do. Architecture gives freedom and architecture is orientation,” says the photographer.
What does the photographer Renate Schrattenecker-Fischer say about…

…the appearance of the town of Ried: “Ried is a very beautiful city, with mostly wonderful facades. Unfortunately, this splendor is not shown to advantage enough. The many cars in the city are also to blame for this, which disturbs the aesthetics, no question. It is difficult to take attractive photos of the beautiful squares in Ried because they are mostly full of parked cars.”
…the squares in the town of Ried: “I think it spoils the aesthetics when there aren’t any free seats. Empty spaces are not only allowed, they are necessary. In my opinion, the places in Ried are far too crowded, there is too much standing around, nothing has been cleaned up. As a result, the view of the beauty of the architecture is lost. My impression is that too many elements have been placed for the supposed beautification.”
… your idea: “I would find it exciting to clear all the seats and then make very conscious decisions about the design of the seats. Where does something really go? What do I need and what not?
… a lively (inner) city: “When a city is busy, that also influences whether you feel comfortable there or not. This also includes, for example, benches on which two or three people can sit and talk to each other. Ideally, these places should also be green and there is shade. That is part of the aesthetics of a city. Speaking of lively and beautifully lively inner city: A sausage stand is also part of it, for example. It can also be beautiful because it makes the city appear lively.”
… downtown art: “I miss art in the city center, I think you could put more visible art signs in Ried. This would also offer an opportunity to promote young artists. Art in public space – in this case in the city center – is also good for the aesthetics of a city. The presentation of art would also be something that could be considered in the case of vacancies in the city center. Art in public space gives people the opportunity to see and encounter art that would otherwise not go to a museum or an exhibition. You could use it to promote talent and invigorate the city.”
… the feel-good factor in a city: “Commerce in the city only works if people like going to the city because they feel at home there. Keyword guest garden: It plays a role where I like to sit because I feel comfortable there. Are there trees there? Is there space for children to run around? It seems important to me that all generations have to feel comfortable. Living in the city is important to me, neighborhood is good, and this multifunctional space is good for retail, gastronomy and the feeling of a city.”
…younger generations and Ried: “In my opinion, there isn’t enough on offer in Ried for younger people. The inner city should have even more appeal for them. It would be good to offer a daytime offer for the boys as well. The mix of different age groups also plays a role in whether I feel comfortable in this place.”
…the view of the first floor: “The topic of the first, second, third floor is exciting: what is happening up there, how is the architecture changing, how are the facades and windows changing. When is it dark there, when are the lights on? Because this impression is also important for the appearance of a city, whether not only the ground floor but also the other floors of the houses are busy.”
