Mitsubishi ASX: four different drives and lots of standard equipment

This news shocked not only domestic dealers: Mitsubishi was slowly withdrawing from Europe, was the message in the summer of 2020. The three-star brand was fighting for survival and wanted to shed ballast. But dealers and above all customers of the Japanese are characterized by loyalty – and protested loudly. So loud that Allianz brothers Renault and Nissan woke up and made a lifebelt. The fact is: Mitsubishi stays in Europe.

The homepage mitsubishi-motors.at is currently promoting two models: the Spacestar and the Eclipse Cross PHEV. Both were extremely popular in the OÖN tests – as were the models that no longer appear in the portfolio. Mitsubishi was consistently convincing on our extensive test drives.

This year the Japanese are taking off. The first sign of life is called ASX, the second Colt.

The ASX officially arrives as the second generation of this range, which premiered in 2010, with the model being identical in construction to the Renault Captur.

Mitsubishi packs everything that the shelves have to offer into the compact crossover. And that’s a lot, such as with the drives. The 1.6-liter plug-in hybrid (PHEV), the 1.6-liter full hybrid, the 1.3-liter mild hybrid and the 1.0-liter petrol engine shine in the ASX brochure.

The assistant package is already full as standard: cruise control, lane departure warning, traffic sign recognition, cruise control, parking sensors, reversing camera, etc. At the front, the full LED headlights provide plenty of light.

A 7-inch display is installed as standard, and the Japanese manufacturer offers a 9.3-inch portrait format display as an option. Apple CarPlay and Android Auto work wirelessly. The rear seat can be moved 16 centimeters lengthways, which increases the load space (442 liters) by a further 114 liters. Another plus point: five years or 100,000 kilometers new vehicle warranty.

The new ASX (“Active Sports X-over”) will be in the showrooms in March, and then there will also be prizes.
