In 179 cases, because employees had been withheld from pay: like a glazier who had to fight for his last month’s wages and severance pay after 45 years of service. The AK lawyers got his employer to pay him the outstanding 54,303 euros.

In total, AK fought for 636,013 euros in withheld remuneration in 217 labor law cases. “In most cases, these were companies without a works council,” says AK district office manager Martin Gamsjäger, who yesterday presented the annual balance sheet together with AK President Andreas Stangl.

In the previous year, AK Gmunden won 6.3 million euros in 218 social law cases. The main focus was on the topics of pensions, care allowances and disability pensions. A 48-year-old cleaning worker contacted the AK because she had chronic pain after two herniated discs, which led to burnout and depression. After four years, during which she could only work part-time, she applied for a disability pension, which the pension insurance institution refused. After a lawsuit by the AK, the court confirmed her occupational disability. The woman’s pension was recognized retrospectively for six months.
