The fact that the Michaeli Bräu leases the vacant Mostheurigen Schneiderbauer and fills it with new life (the OÖN reported) now also has an impact on a special running event in Leonding. On June 10th, the TGW Kürnberg races will be held for the last time.

As the organizer of the well-known and popular trail run, the “Sportfreunde Linz” have made the decision to invite all active participants one last time this year to complete the special round in the Kürnbergwald.

This has nothing to do with the aftermath of Corona or a lack of interest from the running scene, but simply with the fact that the Mostbauer Schneiderbauer can no longer be used to supply runners or the award ceremony. “This year we only have the outdoor area of the popular excursion restaurant available after the tailor’s farmer was leased and the new tenant does not want to open the doors for us,” says organizer Michael Schmolmüller. “We have therefore decided not to organize the run after that.”

Finale in the usual manner

At the finale on June 10th, a lot will remain the same as we were used to. The circuits in the Leondinger Kürnbergwald attract. Ambitious runners are challenged on the Topsport Öhner Trail over 16 kilometers from 10 a.m. The demanding route also leads over the Prinzensteig, which promises a real running experience. Incidentally, the only refreshment station is set up at kilometer 10.

The Sparkasse OÖ Jedermann Trail over six kilometers (from 11 a.m.) and the Stadt Leonding Children’s Obstacle Trail over one kilometer around the Mostbauer Schneiderbauer (from 12 p.m.) are also about the joy of exercising together.

The run through the Kürnbergwald has a long history. It was organized by the VKB for 30 years, the last time in 2016. At that time there was already a trail run over 26.5 kilometers and 1050 meters in altitude in addition to the classic distance (11.6 kilometers, 320 meters in altitude). The “Sportfreunde Linz” continued the tradition for the first time in 2017 with the TGW Kürnberg races. Now that too is over. Whether there will be a successor format is currently still open.
