With Arce in the hub cities, Bolivia prepares for the march in favor of MAS

From the early hours, citizens gather in different parts of Bolivia for the “wiphalazo”, an event organized to redress the national symbol recognized in the Political Constitution of the State and despised in Santa Cruz, governed by the far right Luis Fernando Camacho, and other cities led by the opposition.

“This is first because of the redress for the wiphala, which identifies all the indigenous peasant peoples, not only at the Bolivian level but at the global level, to all the indigenous peoples,” Beymar Acuña, from the Confederación Sindical Única de Peasant Workers of Bolivia.

“They have burned our flag, they have wanted to disappear our organizations, the indigenous peoples in many countries, in that sense we have been organizing today for a week to mobilize,” he added.

According to a report by Bolivia TV, people gathered at Yacuiba, Trinidad, Riberalta, Oruro, El Alto, Sucre, among other cities.

Some 25,000 coca growers from the six federations of the tropics arrived in the city of Cochabamba to mobilize.

Meanwhile, in La Paz, the Central Obrera Boliviana (COB) It summoned all its sectors for another march that will descend from El Alto to the Plaza San Francisco.

The president of the Chamber of Deputies, Freddy Mamani, anticipated that Arce will be in Cochabamba, La Paz and Santa Cruz to “support” the mobilizations.

From the parliamentary brigade of La Paz, its president José Rengel indicated that all “social organizations have to be in the ‘great wiphalazo’, because we can no longer bear this type of humiliation of the civic”, he asserted.

On October 3, the former president Evo Morales called for mobilization.

The mass protest in defense of said flag is carried out after on September 24, when the protocol acts for the 211 years of the libertarian deed of Santa Cruz were taking place, the Minister of Government, Eduardo del Castillo, took out of one of his pockets a wiphala for the incumbent president David Choquehuanca try to lift it, something that was prevented by Camacho, who decided to terminate the official program.

The situation caused unrest among those present who questioned Camacho’s actions and in response the governor’s supporters violated the wiphala flag that was on one of the masts in the plaza and on the floral offerings.

In Santa Cruz, the Central Obrera Departamental (COD) led by Rolando Borda called for a march in defense of the wiphala, but also to remember the 529 years of the “anti-colonial resistance” in reference to the conquest of America by Christopher Columbus. .

The wiphala is a sacred and ancestral symbol that identifies the community system based on equity, equality, harmony, solidarity and reciprocity. Also, it became an emblem of the resistance of the original indigenous peoples; not only in Bolivia, but of the continent in contemporary history.

Civics, former presidents, opposition politicians, citizen platforms and the National Committee for the Defense of Democracy (Conade) joined yesterday’s strike called by unions in rejection of the bill to fight against the legitimization of illicit profits that according to them violates the law. Constitution.

In an evaluation of the strike day, presidential spokesman Jorge Richter assured that “there were minor adhesions” and that “the country functioned normally”, although the conflict is “fundamentally in Santa Cruz.”
