Lula da Silva met with Biden and repudiated attacks on the democratic system in Brazil

Before the meeting with Joe Biden, the brazilian president met with us democratic legislatorsto exchange perspectives on social programs, noting on his Twitter account the “concern we share for the environment and the future of the world, the confrontation with extreme right and the fake news on social media.”

He was also with Senator Bernie Sanders, referenced within American progressivism. “We talk about democracy, the union movement and better rights and jobs for workers“, he indicated on his social networks. Then he met with representatives of the AFL-CIO, the main union confederation in the United States, which awarded him a human rights award when Lula was in prison.

The United States is Brazil’s second largest trading partner, with an exchange that in 2022 reached 88,700 million dollars. In this sense, it is expected that, in addition to strengthening commercial links, prioritize environmental care on the agendaconsidering one of Lula’s campaign promises: to end deforestation in the Amazon by 2030.
