The Franciscan nuns from Vöcklabruck are breaking new ground in the care of seniors and, from summer 2023, in cooperation with the Neue Heimat, the Urfahr-Umwelt social welfare association and the state’s social department, will enable age-appropriate and needs-oriented living and living.

The cooperation partners present the concept in the meeting room of the market town of Feldkirchen “Vital living”. The offer of this pilot project is intended to close the gap between assisted living and old people’s and nursing homes and is aimed at seniors with care levels one to three. The opening of the 14 low-barrier apartments of the “vital living” is planned for summer 2023. “‘Vital Living’ is a pilot project of the state government’s social department and answers one of the questions that demographic development brings with it. We are committed to responding to the needs of seniors and competently covering their requirements, as well as the need for care if necessary”says Johann Stroblmair, managing director of the old people’s and nursing homes of the Franciscan nuns of Vöcklabruck. “Innovative new approaches are now needed in the care sector. I am pleased that we in Feldkirchen are making a contribution to this with the ‘Vital Forms of Living’ offer”Feldkirchen’s Mayor David Allerstorfer is also happy about the new offer in the region.
Volunteers are also to be increasingly involved in the care of older people. For this reason, at “vital living” a volunteer bonus. This stipulates that in the environment of “vital living” the operator organizes a voluntary range of services with the involvement of the local community and makes it available to the tenants. The state of Upper Austria also supports these measures. One additional hour of work per week for a salaried person is funded by the state for the coordination of voluntary work. Likewise, activities with volunteers such as joint events or excursions are supported with up to 200 euros per month.
