The Mexican Justice forced the Government to vaccinate people between 12 and 17 years old against the coronavirus

The Executive is in a position to appeal the ruling, the authorities clarified.

The Secretary of Health announced at the end of September that the Pfizer-BioNTech inoculant will be applied to minors, but only if they have diseases that may complicate a possible contagion.

So far, some 23,000 requests have been registered to vaccinate minors with different medical conditions and it is estimated that 1.5 million meet this condition, the official said.

The Pfizer-BioNTech vaccine, created jointly by laboratories in the United States and Germany, is the only one that has been approved by Mexico for adolescents between 12 and 17 years of age.

Several minors were vaccinated in different states of Mexico as a result of legal proceedings initiated by their parents, local media and the AFP news agency reported.

One of the main arguments in these judicial remedies is the need for minors to be vaccinated in order to return to face-to-face classes, which have begun to resume in the country.

In Mexico, with 126 million inhabitants, some 66.9 million people have already been inoculated, 48.8 million of them with two doses, according to the latest health report.

The Aztec country adds 282,227 deaths and 3.7 million infections since the start of the pandemic.
