For more than two decades, Hemma Scheicher and Norbert Perchtold have been an important cultural local supplier with their Hofbühne Tegernbach. The two trained actors organize around 50 events every year in their listed theater built in 1704 “Baumgartnerhof”, which is kept in good condition with a lot of effort. This year, for example, the press house will be renovated.
“Visitors appreciate our beautiful, atmospheric cultural ambience, which is why people come here twice, as the Upper Austrians say”says the native of Carinthia, who takes care of event operations and marketing, while her partner is the craftsman and technician at the Vierkanthof.
Still room for improvement
In terms of visitor numbers, the Hofbühne, like many cultural event organizers, is not yet in ticket sales as it was before the pandemic. “You become more modest, but by solving the tasks during the Corona period, we also saw qualitative improvements”, emphasizes Scheicher. At the events, visitors now appreciate the coffee house ambience at small Thonet tables. Seats are assigned based on the date of purchase, there is no longer a free choice of seats. “Everyone can go in relaxed and have their fixed seat.”

Although the cultural sector is also groaning under the increased energy costs, admission prices remain moderate. “For most of the events we have the same prices as three or four years ago, for some we have to raise them by one or two euros”says Scheicher.
The Hofbühne starts the new cultural season on March 1st. Right at the beginning there is the popular cabaret series again “Scharz in March”. Walter Kammerhofer and Max Mayerhofer (March 1), The Schick Sisters (the former Dornrosen, March 3), Eva Maria Marold (March 8), Benedikt Mitmannsgruber (March 21) and the Impropheten ( March 28).
“We have a lot of new faces on stage this year, which makes us very happy, but also involves a certain risk”, says Scheicher. Through personal acquaintances of the cultural organizer, the well-known writer Robert Menasse (April 13) and Stefano Bernardin appear for the first time “Hamlet – one man show” (May 4th) in Tegernbach.
The program is supplemented with concerts, readings and popular events such as the “Tegernbacher Gstanzlsingen” and children’s plays such as “the little witch” (March 12) with the Tabor Theater.
