The 29-year-old from the Linz-Land district met his internet acquaintance last autumn. He had transferred money for the first time for an alleged pornographic video of the alleged lady. When the lady also asked for money for doctor, gas and apartment bills, the Upper Austrian also transferred this until the sum amounted to a six-digit euro amount. However, the repayment plan that was sent to the 29-year-old was not implemented, nor was the promised video sent. Finally the man pulled the rip cord.
The police advise always being suspicious of online acquaintances – especially when it comes to demands for money – never allowing yourself to be put under pressure and always consulting friends or relatives if fraud is suspected and contacting the police in this case .
