Norway’s cross-country superstar disqualified

The two-time Olympic champion only got his driver’s license back in May 2019 after being sentenced to ankle shackles for drunk driving and hit-and-run.

In 2020 he came into conflict with the judiciary again. Comparatively harmless is what the Norwegian, who no longer competes in the World Cup, but now tries his luck in the Ski Classics series, which also includes the legendary Vasalauf.

In one of the last preparatory races for the big goal of the season, the Jizerska50 in the Czech Giant Mountains, Northug was disqualified last Sunday. In the race, which was held in the classic technique, he had illegally used some skating steps. TV cameras had recorded this and convicted the 37-year-old.
