The past weekend was not a good one for the two fistball teams of the ASKÖ Laakirchen Paper. Because Laakirchen’s women, commonly known as the Paper Girls, had to settle for the comparatively disappointing fifth place after five finals in the hall this season.
In the final round of the 1st indoor league, there was a 3-1 win against ASKÖ Seekirchen, but in view of the subsequent 0-3 defeat against FBC Linz AG, this was not enough for the Müllehner protégés to get into the final tournament that they so longed for to claim the championship title. After a mixed season, the Paper Girls ended up fifth in the final standings.
Even sadder are the men who competed in the 2nd indoor Bundesliga. In the last round of the game, the Laakirchners had to admit defeat to the Tigers Vöcklabruck 2 with 1:3, but landed the surprising 3:1 win against Union Schwanenstadt. This left Laakirchen only eleventh out of a total of twelve teams in the final standings, which ultimately meant relegation to the first national league.
