1.3 kilograms of cocaine worth around 260,000 euros were seized and five people arrested, reported Burgenland’s state police director Martin Huber.
The starting point for the investigations were drug sales in the summer of 2022 in Burgau (Hartberg-Fürstenfeld district) and at rave parties in Stinatz (Güssing district). As it turned out, a 24-year-old Kosovar from Fürstenfeld, together with his 43-year-old uncle from the district of Weiz and two Austrians aged 28 and 23 from the districts of Southeast Styria and Jennersdorf wanted to smuggle cocaine into Austria via the Netherlands, Belgium and Germany .
They hired a 30-year-old Syrian to do it. However, the 28-year-old Styrian and the Syrian were stopped during a courier trip on the Ilz motorway exit on the southern motorway. In the car, officers found a bag containing 1.3 kilograms of cocaine with a street value of 260,000 euros. Both men were arrested. As a result, the two Kosovars and the 23-year-old Austrian were also caught. All five are currently in custody at Graz Prison.
22 drug buyers in southern Burgenland and Styria were also reported.
