The measures of the Municipality of Montevideo:
1 – Maintenance and adaptation of water accumulation sites
Preparation of different water accumulation sites —ravines, tajamares— in producer properties.
2 – Recovery Fund for family producers affected by the climate situation
Generation of a non-reimbursable fund of 65 million pesos to support producers with different inputs (solid amendments, fertilizers, seeds), as well as materials and technical hours to rebuild production. Producers must present their project, and after being evaluated and approved, they may receive up to 80,000 pesos.
3 – Exemption from the Departmental General Tax
A project was sent to the Departmental Board for waive the General Tax —2023— to the rural producers of the department.
4 – Adaptation Fund
Construction of an Adaptation Fund for producers, within the framework of the Montevideo Climate Action Plan, which supports the implementation of infrastructure and technology in aspects related to water and soil conservation.
The IM has already carried out 20 cutwater cleanings since January 24
So far, the IM has received some 70 requests for the cleaning of cutwaters, of which 60 have been approved, and 20 of them completed. In turn, some 60 applications for the Recovery Fund were accepted, of which 30 are advanced.
In addition, the Departmental Board unanimously approved the exemption from the general rate, and the Adaptation Fund has already received some 20 applications for soil recovery.
