Two members of a group of three tourers were able to get themselves to safety. The rescued person received first aid and was brought down into the valley with injuries, according to the mountain rescue service. 100 people and three helicopters were involved in the search for the avalanche in the Türnitz Alps.
According to the mountain rescue service, the departure came at noon on the Haupttürnitzrotte forest path near the 1,334 meter high Hennesteck. Three tourers – all without avalanche transceivers (LVS devices) – had been out in the open terrain outside the ski area when a wet snow avalanche of around 50 to 70 meters came down.
