Ancap will bet on the production of green hydrogen

Ancap will bet on the production of green hydrogen

Currently, the country has decarbonized practically all its electricity generation, and has abundant renewable resources. Thus, it became an interesting destination for foreign investment.

This, says the state, “would generate the conditions to be a pillar in the global economy of green H2”, since the country could find itself fulfilling its “carbon neutrality” commitments to 2050 and export renewable energy in the form of H2.

He Ministry of Industry, Energy and Mining (MIEM) defines the energy policy, and within this, the H2 strategy.

Ancap is the autonomous entity with the capacity to promote the supervision of operations of energy projects in offshore areas, since the final product of these contracts are H2 molecules (or derivatives) and not electrical energy.

In addition, “seeks to reactivate hydrocarbon exploration activity throughout the offshore area”, at full cost and risk of private energy companies, by signing contracts for these areas (which have already received offers). For Ancap, this would allow for a significant level of investment and company participation.

At the same time, an attempt will be made to “generate knowledge for the production of sustainable fuels, biofuels”, as well as other operations or projects that are related to the energy transition, such as the underground storage of CO2 and other fluids.
