5,150 visitors will attend the Vienna Opera Ball dressed up this Thursday evening. One admission ticketwhich even box owners have to purchase additionally, cost this year 350 Euro. Admission is from 8.40 p.m – Depending on their taste, the guests can move in via a red carpet or discreetly enter the ball via a side entrance.
Total are at the ball night 7,230 people in the Vienna State Opera. The Young Ladies and Young Gentlemen Committee is 144 pairs formed, 16 couples are available as a reserve.
So many visitors also have to be fed: At the festival, the gastronomy employs around 320 people to entertain of the guests for which Security care for 250 employees. For the good vibes 150 musicians responsible. The gastronomy serves, among other things, over 1,300 bottles of sparkling wine and champagne, 900 bottles of wine, 900 bottles of beer, 2,500 pairs of sausages, 1,000 pieces of petits fours and sandwiches and around 1,300 goulash soups. In the “Wiener Salon” Riesling beuschel, paprika chicken or beetroot dumplings are also served.
Only long dresses and tails allowed
The dress code is very strict and offers hardly any variation, especially for male visitors: Ladies have to wear a large, long evening dress, gentlemen a tailcoat. If the dress code is disregarded, the ticket clerks will not let you into the opera. The house is also dressed up: 171 floral arrangements and 480 floral arrangements decorate the premises.
As soon as the guests have passed the clothing check, ball donations await them in addition to a beautiful ball night. This year the ladies will receive a “Master Lin Precious Day Cream & Intense Night Cream”, a “RefectoCil Styling Gel”, a “BeautyLash Lash Growth Serum” and a tea light from Swarovski. Gentlemen can take a guest towel and a “Reparaturseidl” beer home with them.
The festival is also very popular with viewers in front of the television. Up to 1.506 million people watched the last ball before the Corona break in 2020 on ORF. This year, a partly new team is waiting for the TV guests: Mirjam Weichselbraun and Andi Knoll, the ZIB moderation couple Nadja Bernhard and Tarek Leitner, Karl Hohenlohe and Christoph Wagner-Trenkwitz as well as Teresa Vogl will host the evening.
