In this regard, the president of the state company, Gabriel GurmendezHe recalled that Antel also works in more than 100 towns and villages throughout the interior, an “investment boost” that will manage to replace all old facilities with fiber optics in all of these locations at the end of the current period.
“We have proposed to arrive,” he emphasized by highlighting the “symbolic” nature of this instance because it is “an inland town, like so many, where the fiber did not reach.”
Along the same lines, Gurméndez announced that in the coming weeks, the entire town will have the new technology, in order to “reach all corners of Uruguay with equity and equal opportunities.”
New upload and download speeds
At the beginning of February, Antel announced an increase in download and upload speeds for business or private customers who subscribe to the fiber optic service. This improvement did not imply any cost and contemplates different improvements depending on the contracted plan.
For example, for residential customers with the plan “Basic Fiber” the speed increase on the descent was 300%, while the increase on the ascent was 50%. On the other hand, for the plan “Ultra Fiber” the increase in the descent was 33% and in the ascent, 400%. From the company, they highlighted that this was possible due to the plan that was carried out to replace 300,000 routers in the homes of their clients.
