The climate ticket for public transport has also been available for the individual federal states for more than a year. For 365 euros a year, adults can use it throughout Upper Austria, with the exception of Linz, Wels and Steyr.
“As the Steyr city councilor for transport, I have therefore asked for a cheaper ticket for all public transport in Steyr,” says Judith Ringer (VP). This request is now being implemented by the state. From March 1st, the climate ticket plus inner-city traffic in Steyr will cost 480 instead of 604 euros.
“Especially in times of extreme inflation, public transport should be kept as affordable as possible for the citizens,” says Ringer. In this way, many people who commute to work in Steyr can be encouraged to switch from cars to public transport.
