Three of the arrests were in Timbiquí, after six property search and search operations were ordered, one of them in a trading company.
“According to the investigations, an official from the Timbiquí Mayor’s Office is linked to the organization,” the Defense Ministry added, according to the Sputnik news agency.
The arrests were for conspiracy to commit a crime in a heterogeneous competition, with money laundering.
The operation was an articulated work of the Directorate of Police and the Attorney General’s Office with the support of the Army and Navy.

The text was signed in Bogotá by the Vice President and Foreign Minister of Colombia, Marta Lucía Ramírez, and the head of the Mission to Support the Peace Process in Colombia, Roberto Menéndez.
According to Ramírez, “the contributions of the MAPP / OEA have allowed the State to get closer to the communities and have served as a bridge to generate dialogue in contexts of high conflict.”
Menéndez, for his part, stressed that the group assumes “this commitment with independence and impartiality, as well as with the determined will to accompany all the peace efforts that Colombia carries out.”
The Mission has a territorial presence in 18 regional offices and its headquarters in Bogotá, where it works to support victims of the armed conflict, reintegration processes, voluntary substitution programs for illicit crops, and follow-up on Development Programs with a Focus Territorial, Comprehensive Rural Reform and demining initiatives, among others.
