The event is an exclusive tasting of the most diverse international brands of wines, beers, gins, whiskey, cognac, among other drinks. Its name alludes to the mixing and matching of different styles of drinks, all accompanied by a high-level gastronomic proposal: finger foods, hot dishes, sweets and Italian coffee to finish.
Omar Ichustealma mater of Catadores Uruguay told scope.com How did the initiative come about? “The first wine show held in our country was held by Catadores in 1996 and from there it is that other editions are replicated later, with different styles and in different areas. The Blend is born at the request of importers. Uruguay is a very important place for foreign brands, even though it is a wine producer,” he explained.
“In Buenos Aires what you are going to find are Argentine wines when you go to a restaurant. You could also find imported ones, but it is very niche, in 5-star hotels, specific cavas. same goes for Chiliin Spain, with every producing country, the wine that is promoted is the national one. It is different, apart from being a wine-producing country and having our own production in our country, there is a lot of foreign wine, a lot of wine importers and at their request”, explains the specialist who has participated in this type of event internationally.
Ichuste defines the event as exclusive and with a unique imprint. “The Blend is the mixture, it is the combination, it is the mix of exclusively international brands that can be wines, beers, vermouth, rum, among others, and the entire wide world of spirits.”
As for the gastronomic proposal, it is presented accordingly, based on self-service with specially selected cheese, meat, seafood and dessert stations, among other delicacies.
“We do it at The Grand Hotel, one of the most important and distinguished on the peninsula that recently opened The Grand Center which is the boutique convention center facing the sea and with state-of-the-art technology and a space of 650 m2. This is going to be an opportunity for tourists and residents to get to know it”, the person in charge of Tasters told Ámbito.com, which he defines as the “link” that links the producer with the client or interested consumer.
