At this stage, the census takers carry out field verification tasks that basically consist of observing homes and have no contact with the population, with few exceptions. They will check maps and directions and reveal every block in the urban areas of Uruguay.

When can a precensus taker request information?
On the only occasions that the workers contracted by the INE have contact with the population is if they identify any change in the public thoroughfare, for which reason they may need to consult a neighbor about it, or if the identification of the dwelling had some irregularity.
In this case, they will only consult the property for the meter number and customer number of joint venture. No other type of personal information is collected or from the inhabitants of the house.
How to identify precensistas?
The Uruguayans who carry out the tasks of Prenceso 2023 are identified with a cap, official vest and authorization card, which has a digital version on the tablets they have.
