Sharing a screenshot of a note that highlights the country’s support for the inhabitants of the Antarctic islands and the intention to open direct flights between Montevideo and the Malvinas, the former Argentine official maintained that “Lacalle Pou’s main objective is to show his contempt for Argentina.”
“It is a provocation to a claim that they have always shared. Malvinas fishing boats and planes use Montevideo on a daily basis. I claimed it personally in olives in 2021,” said Solá, adding that the government coalition “betrays the legacy of Artigas”.
