The receipt of a corresponding complaint on Friday was confirmed by the Social Democrats. The cause is about allegations that the FPÖ have received financial support from Russia. The Liberals deny this and see credit damage or an insult to honor. Meanwhile, the FPÖ is also announcing a lawsuit against the ÖVP.

SPÖ sees attempted intimidation

In essence, it is about the fact that the Social Democrats had picked up a media report that money had flowed to the FPÖ for an application that called for the sanctions against Russia to be lifted. The Liberals reject this as wrong and are therefore complaining.

The SPÖ sees this as an “attempt at intimidation”. The lawsuit is a sign that the nerves in the FPÖ in the case of Russia mails are completely on edge and that the FPÖ is obviously fine with every means to prevent clarification, said federal manager Christian Deutsch. The SPÖ will continue to demand clarification on the Moscow-Mails/FPÖ cause. Instead of throwing complaints around, FP boss Herbert Kickl should “finally” give the Court of Auditors full access to the blue party treasury.

“Unstoppable Attempts”

FPÖ General Secretary Christian Hafenecker spoke in a broadcast of “unfounded attempts at patting” and “made-up accusations”. That is why one defends oneself with legal means against the “red and black dirt bucket”, Hafenecker also included the ÖVP: “That means in plain language, we have also taken legal steps against the ÖVP,” said the FPÖ Secretary General.

On Saturday afternoon, the ÖVP did not yet know anything about a lawsuit by the FPÖ. Secretary-General Stocker took the announcement rather casually: “The announcements by the FPÖ cannot hide Herbert Kickl’s allegiance to Russia. Since the beginning of the war, the FPÖ has criticized the sanctions against Russia in 280 press releases and called for their lifting. Kickl’s Putin-friendliness is so clearly documented,” Stocker said in a written statement. The allegations against the FPÖ must be cleared up. “We must not allow Russia to influence politics in Austria through the FPÖ,” emphasized Stocker.
