Interior Minister Gerald Darmanin wrote on Twitter on Saturday, according to Reuters. Paris police said “an incident” sparked a panicked stampede in the area. A spokesman for the Paris police rejected reports that shots had been fired. The Paris Police Department previously issued a tweet advising the public to avoid the area. According to the online edition of the newspaper “Le Figaro”, there was a stampede in the shopping center “Westfield Les 4 Temps” in La Défense after a possible suicide. Some passers-by thought they heard a gunshot, causing panic, which was circulated on social media.
