Cigarette remains disposed of on the balcony: fire in apartment building

The fire broke out around 4:10 a.m. on the balcony of a 73-year-old woman and quickly spread to the balconies of the surrounding apartments. The visiting woman’s 55-year-old daughter was woken up by the sound of the fire. She immediately woke her mother and called the fire department. The two women managed to put out the fire with buckets of water.

The Traunkirchen fire brigade was on site with two vehicles and 15 emergency services and carried out post-extinguishing work. The extent of the damage is not yet known. According to initial investigations, the fire may have been caused by cigarette butts that had been disposed of on the balcony.
