Salzburg congratulated the Norwegian winner. “Henrik taught us better and probably drove the best second run of his life – I can only take my hat off and congratulate you,” said the eight-time overall Ski World Cup winner after Kristoffersen’s Slalom World Championship title. The Norwegian had managed the first title of the Van Deer-Red Bull Sports ski brand founded by Hirscher. “We cannot take it for granted that we can celebrate this success in the first year. We know what it takes to do that, so the joy and gratitude that we managed to do it is all the greater,” said Hirscher.
Kristoffersen revealed that he was struggling with set-up problems on his skis. “The ski works great, it just has a bit to do with the edge setting. Technically, I drive a bit differently than Marcel, although we have a very similar feeling. The only problem at the moment is that it’s the first season and we don’t have enough experience on the different conditions. Then it’s a bit more difficult with adjustments on the edges. That was a bit of a problem in Kitzbühel and in the first race today. It worked better in the second run.”
