After the man, armed with a pistol, attacked a tobacconist in Linz-Kleinmünchen and forced the employee to hand over cash, he fled on foot with the loot. An attentive witness observed the perpetrator as he left the tobacconist and ran away. The police were finally able to stop and arrest the alleged perpetrator on Auwiesenstrasse. He confessed to the robbery and also admitted to two other tobacconist robberies in Linz in mid-January and early February.
In addition, a 16-year-old Russian national was investigated, who is said to have given the 18-year-old the clothing he used for the crime and helped him escape. He must have been waiting near the tobacconist with a change of clothes for the perpetrator. The 16-year-old was arrested on February 19 after the 18-year-old incriminated him. Both suspects are in the Linz prison.
