The impending climate catastrophe, inflation and the war in Ukraine, which is overshadowing Europe: the people in our region have not let their humor go away. At the beginning of the foolish season, the Weyer carnival committee was glued to the table in the inn. The abusive brothers and sisters veterinarian Rudolf Grogger, Deputy Mayor Adolf Brunnthaler and entrepreneur Sabine Russegger have anticipated the opening of the tunnel by Weyer for Shrove Tuesday. For one “catwalk” the B121 was blocked in a tent tube, which brought Weyer into the Ö3 traffic news. In front of a huge crowd, Mayor Gerhard Klaffner with helmet and headlamp on his head and with a warning vest of the “tunnel director” clothed from the portal. Countless fools and people in disguise were again on their feet at the carnival parades in Hausmening (Amstetten) and in Bad Hall.

Children held up the carnival in Waidhofen and Steyr
In Steyr and Waidhofen, the children and young people saved the honor of carnival yesterday. In both cities there used to be more silly goings-on than now, when adults only occasionally went out in disguise. To do this, the students slipped into all sorts of costumes, and there were no limits to the imagination, from Pippi Longstocking to the astronaut.
An entertainment program with lots of music and games was offered for the young residents on both town squares.

The Ruden danced in “Siern” and sang their “Gstanzl”
The dialect shortens Sierning to “Siern”, which is how it rhymes: The “Neuzeuger Messerer Rud” sang about the empty shops yesterday at the start of the Rudentanz in the Forsthof: “Whoever goes shopping in Siern will at least have the money.” The “Gstanzl “ by a total of twelve folk dance groups once again delighted the audience, which had filled the Rudne Hall and the Forsthof to the last seat.
Of course, Mayor Richard Kerbl (SP) was also sung: “He’s the same from the beginning, he has a gschliffanes Mäu.”

Once again “the hat” burned at the carnival session
The Villach carnival was already being broadcast on TV at the same hour on Shrove Tuesday when the carnivalists from the Kremsmünster carnival club went on stage again. Shortly before Ash Wednesday, the last carnival session ended with a revue of sketches to break up and music numbers to clap along with. The motto “The hat is on fire – the main thing is warm” hit the nerve of current events. Since the premiere on February 10, the Kremsmünster fools have given their best in five other performances.
