In the early afternoon of Ash Wednesday, the four voluntary fire brigades of the Salinengemeinde (Ebensee, Rindbach, Langwies and Roith) had to move out to a wooden garden shed that was fully engulfed in fire in the Ebensee district of Langwies. When the emergency services arrived, the house next door had already caught fire in the roof truss area due to the intense heat. Another hazard came from a gas bottle located directly in front of the fire object, which the homeowner was able to get out of the hut just in time and park outside.
According to Felix Spitzer, who is responsible for public relations at the Roith volunteer fire brigade, the risk of the flames spreading was averted at the last minute thanks to the quickly initiated extinguishing work. Another wooden hut in the vicinity was just saved from major damage. No one was injured in the fire, but the garden shed was completely destroyed.
